Collection: Base Set 2

Pokémon TCG: Base Set 2 is the fourth main expansion in the English Pokémon Trading Card Game, released on February 24, 2000, and is notable for being a compilation set featuring reprints from the original Base Set and Jungle expansions. Comprising 130 cards, it was designed to increase card availability during a period of high demand and helped align the English card pool more closely with the Japanese game. Unlike earlier sets, Base Set 2 was released without a "1st Edition" print run and instead used the Cosmos Holofoil treatment, making it the first English expansion to do so. The set introduced a new Poké Ball with a "2" as its expansion symbol and excluded certain cards from its predecessors, such as Machamp and Revive from the Base Set and several holofoil duplicates from Jungle. Exclusively released in English and never in Japan, Base Set 2 remains a key part of early Pokémon TCG history, valued by collectors and players alike for its role in expanding access to classic Generation I Pokémon cards.
