Crash Twinsanity is a platform game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Vivendi Universal Games for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. It is the eleventh installment in the Crash Bandicoot series and the fifth game in the main series. The game's story takes place three years after the events of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and follows the main protagonist and antagonist of the series, Crash Bandicoot and Doctor Neo Cortex, who must work together to stop the Evil Twins — a pair of interdimensional parrots — from destroying N. Sanity Island. Initially, the game was developed under the title Crash Bandicoot Evolution and was intended to have a more serious tone than previous games. However, the similarity of its premise to Ratchet & Clank convinced Traveller's Tales to restart production and create Crash Twinsanity as a comedic title where Cortex would be teamed up with Crash.

In Crash Twinsanity, players control Crash and Dr. Cortex as a single playable entity, introducing a unique two-character game mechanic that adds a new layer of complexity and humor to the platforming experience. The game features a variety of levels and challenges, each designed to test the player's skills and creativity. The Evil Twins, a pair of interdimensional parrots, invade Crash Bandicoot's island home to steal all the Wumpa fruit, the fuel source for their technology. To face this greater evil, Crash must team up with his creator and arch-rival, Dr. Neo Cortex. This partnership between Crash and Cortex is a significant departure from the usual rivalry, adding a fresh twist to the gameplay and story.
