Shrek Forever After for Nintendo Wii is an action-packed adventure game based on DreamWorks Animation's final Shrek movie. The game allows players to team up with their friends in the ultimate Shrek experience, playing as Shrek, Puss In Boots, Donkey, and Fiona to out-smart, out-fight, and out-play the crafty Rumpelstiltskin. Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin, and finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are now hunted, and because Rumpelstiltskin is king, Shrek and Fiona have never met.

The game features a co-operative four-player adventure, with each player taking control of Shrek, Fiona, Puss In Boots, and Donkey. Each character has their own unique skills, and only by cooperating (or switching characters if playing alone) will you win the day. Players can battle across two different realities, with clever dimension-shifting puzzles that make the most of each character's growing set of new powers. As players progress, they can upgrade their characters' abilities until they are powerful enough to take on Rumpelstiltskin and his most dangerous allies.

The game offers a variety of features, including four different characters, each with their own special abilities and moves, and the ability to play alone by switching characters at any time or with friends and family in a four-player co-op mode. Players can collect coins to buy new skills and upgrades for each character, from Donkey's megaphone attack to Fiona's disco ball move. Additionally, there are secret items and upgrades to hunt for, and players can replay the game with extra puzzles and areas once they have leveled up their characters enough
