Impulsivity is a powerful red creature card from the Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander set (ECC), appearing as card number #13 in the standard printing and #33 in the extended art version. Illustrated by Alex Konstad, this 7/5 Elemental Incarnation costs {6}{R} to cast and features a potent enters-the-battlefield ability: it allows you to cast a target instant or sorcery card from any graveyard without paying its mana cost, exiling the spell if it would be put into a graveyard afterward. This mechanic enables high-value plays by recycling game-changing spells like extra turns, mass removal, or card draw engines directly from the graveyard.
The card also boasts the Encore ability for {7}{R}{R}, which can be activated from the graveyard as a sorcery. When used, it creates a token copy of Impulsivity for each opponent, forcing each token to attack a different opponent if able. These tokens gain haste and are sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step, creating a sudden, overwhelming board presence that can close out games quickly. The combination of a massive body, graveyard recursion, and a multiplayer-focused encore mechanic makes it a standout commander or finisher in red-based Spellslinger or Elemental decks.
Strategically, Impulsivity thrives in formats like Commander where graveyards are often filled with high-impact spells due to multiplayer dynamics. It synergizes well with flicker effects, reanimation strategies, and cards that mill or loot to stock the graveyard. While its high mana cost limits its speed, the value generated upon entry and the potential for a game-ending encore attack make it a formidable option in mid-to-late game scenarios. It is legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage formats.
