Super Mario Galaxy is a 3D action-adventure platform game for the Wii, first released in Japan on November 1, 2007. In this game, the player controls Mario in outer space, moving across spherical planetoids with their own centers of gravity. The levels are more linear than those found in its 3D predecessors Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Similar to prior games, Mario collects Power Stars to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, who is trying to establish his own galaxy at the center of the universe. Mario is aided by Luigi, a brigade of Toads, star-shaped creatures called Lumas, and a mysterious woman named Rosalina.
Super Mario Galaxy is the quintessential Super Mario game for the Wii. The story is innovative, the game challenging, and the graphics crisp - all of which combines to form an amazing game experience. The best way to describe this game is that it is the Wii equivalent of what Super Mario 64 was for the Nintendo 64. The controls do take some getting used to, but this is quickly overcome after the first few galaxies and it becomes natural and effortless. The game makes full use of all the features of the Wii remote, players have to do all kinds of things to succeed: pressing buttons, swinging the Wii remote and the Nunchuk, and even pointing at and dragging things with the pointer.
With Super Mario Galaxy for Wii, you'll also see the console at its best with great graphics and awesome camera controls which move with Mario, allowing you to stay in perfect position as you face the challenges of each galaxy. Delve deep into levels with amazing depth of field and visually stunning, atmospheric surroundings. It's a must-have Mario game that will have hardened fans and newcomers transfixed. The game has received positive feedback, with one customer noting interesting twists on the original platform style. However, several customers find the game very difficult to play. The game is available on various platforms, including Amazon.co.uk, where it is listed as a Nintendo Selects edition, identical to the original release with the exception that the disc is matte and not shiny.
