The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) set Sun & Moon—Burning Shadows is the third main expansion in the Sun & Moon Series, continuing to feature Generation VII Pokémon and Pokémon-GX. This set introduces new Pokémon like Necrozma-GX, Marshadow-GX, and Tapu Fini-GX, alongside returning favorites such as Machamp-GX, Charizard-GX, Darkrai-GX, and Ho-Oh-GX. The set's theme revolves around battling in both the dark of night and the blazing sun, with a focus on the minions of Team Skull and the fiery battles and deep shadows that define the expansion.

In Japan, the set was released as two separate expansions titled "To Have Seen the Battle Rainbow" and "Darkness that Consumes Light," making up the third expansion block in the Pokémon Card Game Sun & Moon Era. The English version of the set was released on August 4, 2017, while the Japanese versions were released on June 16, 2017. The set is based on Pokémon Sun and Moon, featuring Generation VII Pokémon and the Prism Pokémon Necrozma, along with new Alola Forms of classic Pokémon. It continues the mechanics of Alola Forms and Pokémon-GX introduced in previous sets.
