TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan is a 3D platforming game developed by Krome Studios and published by Activision f In this sequel to Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, players take on the role of Ty, a Tasmanian Tiger, who must save the Southern Rivers from an invasion by the Quinkan, a group of evil spirits. The game features a variety of new elements, including customizable boomerang chassis that can be upgraded with Bunyip Stones to create and mix different effects.

The game's overall gameplay is similar to previous games, but introduces Bunyip Stones, which can be equipped to boomerang chassis to change their functionality or elemental properties and combined to create unique boomerang combinations, such as explosive Lasorangs or Multirangs that track enemies. New boomerang chassis and Bunyip Stones can be purchased with Opals, the game's currency, from stores in Southern Rivers, and Bunyip Stones can also be earned as rewards for completing sidequests. As each boomerang chassis has a limited number of Bunyip Stone slots, the player must strategize which Stones to use and which boomerang chassis to equip them to. The game also features several vehicles for exploration and combat, including the Chopper, Go-Cart, and Shadow Bunyip from previous games, as well as the Crabmersible, Extreme Bunyip, and Gunyip, a fighter plane used in certain mission.

TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan offers a variety of gameplay experiences, including on-foot missions, Battle Bunyips, cart racing, and a new type of mission called the Gunyip. The game also introduces a melee combat system, where many enemies are immune to damage from thrown boomerangs, requiring players to use melee combat to defeat them. Multiplayer is present and consists of "Cart Racing" and "Gunyip Dogfighting", both of which are playable with up to four players. The game's HD remaster on Steam includes new HD graphics, updated shadows, reflections, HD resolutions, and 60fps, as well as Steamworks integration for achievements and leaderboards. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Southern Rivers that is under attack by a new mysterious threat, and brings back the open-world style of gameplay from Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, but instead of one large open world, it takes place on two smaller overworlds
